One thing we can be sure of is this, George W. Bush was president for eight years and took us from a balanced budget to the largest debt in American history. During four of those years the Republicans had a clear majority in the Senate and the House. This devastation happened on his watch.

Here is what no one is talking about. these "worthless" mortgages were given to people who were stretching to buy. But guess what, if the mortgage interest rate and closing costs had been capped at reasonable rates, most of those people would still be in their houses and paying their mortgages.

Interesting article. Washington republicans fighting for their lobby's lives. Govenors fighting for their state's lives. Money changing hands in Washington legally perhaps but not ethically. Govenors not as important to the BIG money interests because their bases are covered in Washington.
